UNIX Linux Technician

R&D Unix/Linux Technician - Consultant
This is a contract role located in Rockland County.
The Role:
An exciting opportunity exists for a UNIX/Linux technician within a world class Operations center.
You will be part of a highly creative, dynamic, and innovative team environment.
The job requires you to work closely with various groups including system administration, application development, and network design.
Our group designs, implements, and supports procedures on different hardware platforms that make up the Computer environment.
You will also be involved in special projects such as designing, testing, and implementing processes that the operations staff handles. These are shift-based opportunities which support a 24x7x365 environment and mostly night and weekend coverage. Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.
The Qualifications:
o Knowledge of UNIX/Linux (Sun Solaris and AIX) environments.
o Excellent written and verbal communications interpersonal and customer service skills
o Flexibility to work varying coverage hours including weekends and nights
o Flexibility on work location, should be able to work in Middlesex county NJ, Lower Manhattan NY or Orangeburg NY on all shifts depending on the business need
o Strong multitasking skills and the ability to work in a high pressure, fast pace environment
o Strong organizational and analytical skills
o Process oriented
o Self-motivated, able to work independently & in team environment under deadlines.
o Strong verbal and written communication skills
o The ability to pick up new technologies quickly
o 2-3+ years Computer Operations background, understanding of data centers, data communications and utilities
o Experience providing and automating day to day systems administration duties; Shell(Bourne), Perl, or Python scripting abilities
o Networking & Internetworking experience as operator, engineer, or tools integrator
o Experience administering and integrating network management systems

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
